Hey tuition business owners! 🫡

I’m Graeme Clarke, owner of Chorlton Tuition Centre, and I’m so excited to welcome you to the very first edition of The Tuition Growth Blueprint!

If you’re running a tuition centre, thinking about starting one, or looking for ways to grow and succeed, this newsletter is for you.

Every week, I’ll be sharing real, actionable strategies that I’ve used to build my own tuition centre—helping you to create a tuition centre that thrives.

Here’s what you can expect in each issue:
📈 Growth Strategies – Practical steps to attract more students and scale your business
💡 Operations & Systems – How to make your tuition centre run smoothly (without burnout)
🎯 Marketing & Messaging – The secrets to standing out in a crowded education space
🤖 Mega-Tip of the Week – A quick, high-impact insight to implement immediately

Let’s dive in… 👇

Why This Newsletter?

Let me take you back 19 years—to when I first opened Chorlton Tuition Centre.

I had been working as a qualified teacher, passionate about helping students reach their full potential. But I also saw huge gaps in the education system— parents struggling to find the right support, and tuition centres operating with more passion than structure.

So, I took a leap.

Fast forward to today, and we’ve now helped thousands of students, built a strong reputation, and won awards five years in a row, including Best Tuition Centre and the Northern Enterprise Awards.

But it wasn’t always easy.

I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way—mistakes that cost time, money, and energy. And I see other tuition centre owners facing the same struggles:
❌ Struggling to consistently attract students
❌ Spending too much time on admin & not enough on growth
❌ Competing with larger tuition centres and online platforms

That’s exactly why I’m starting this newsletter—to help small tuition centres like yours succeed without the stress and guesswork.

Quick Wins to Get More Enrolments This Week

Before we get into the deeper strategies in future issues, here are three quick wins you can implement today to grow your tuition business:

1️⃣ Clarity = More Enrolments 🎤

At a recent business meeting, a tuition centre owner stood up and explained their business… or at least, they tried to.

The room filled with questions. People weren’t quite sure what they actually did.

One wise business owner spoke up and said:
"Explain your business as if you only have 15 seconds in an elevator. If people get it instantly, you’ve nailed it."

Your tuition centre’s message needs to be clear and results-driven.

Instead of saying:
❌ “We offer English and Maths tuition.”

Try this:
✅ “We help struggling students turn their weakest subject into their best grade—without stress.”

If parents don’t instantly understand how you can help their child, they’ll move on.

2️⃣ Follow Up Relentlessly 📞

Most tuition centres give up too soon when following up with potential students.

  • After 2 follow-ups, 50% of businesses stop reaching out.

  • After 5 follow-ups, 89.8% have given up.

But here’s the thing: the people who follow up the most, win the most.

Just last week, I got a message from a parent I’d been following up with since November. No response for months. But this time? They replied.

Turns out, they’d been away the whole time—and they wanted to sign up immediately.

If I had stopped following up, I would have lost that student.

Lesson? Follow up at least 10 times before giving up.

3️⃣ Give First, Gain Later 🎁

Want more parents to trust you? Give them something valuable first.

  • A free trial lesson 📚

  • A downloadable guide: “5 Simple Ways to Boost Your Child’s Confidence in Maths”

  • A parent Q&A webinar

Giving value first builds trust. And trust turns into long-term clients.

What’s Coming Next?

Over the next few weeks, we’re going to tackle:
🗣️Thinking about your competition
📊Marketing Pillars
🤔The importance of a knowledge centre
🧱Foundation blocks for your business

And so much more.

My goal? To help you build a tuition centre that thrives—so you can focus on what you do best: helping students succeed.

Try today’s Quick Wins, and let me know how they work for you!

To your tuition centre’s success,
