Hello everyone,

This week, the we are diving into:

🏃‍♂️ The power of goal-setting for tuition centre owners
📘 Why setting clear academic and business targets is key
🧠 The psychology behind writing things down
📝 Your action step to get focused, energised, and on track

🏁 From Pavement to Progress: My 10K Target

I’ve been training for the Great Manchester Run 10K lately.

Let’s just say... I’m no spring chicken! 😅 When I first started running, 10k felt impossible. Cold mornings, stiff legs, and a healthy dose of self-doubt. But here’s what changed the game for me:
🎯 I set a clear target.

Because I had that specific, written goal—to run 10k—I kept showing up. Week after week. Run after run. I started improving. I stayed motivated. And eventually, I hit my stride (literally).

Running reminded me of running a tuition centre. If you don’t set yourself a goal—something you can see, measure, and aim for—how do you ever know if you’re improving?

🎯 The Business Case for Targets in Tuition

As a tuition centre owner, you wear many hats: educator, administrator, marketer, team leader. Without clear goals, it’s easy to get stuck in the day-to-day and lose sight of the big picture.

📚 Whether you want to:

  • Grow your student numbers

  • Launch a new class or subject

  • Improve retention rates

  • Hire and train new tutors

...you need to know what you're working towards.

📊 Stat Attack:
➡️ 14% of people who set goals are 10x more successful than those who don’t.
➡️ And those who write their goals down? They’re 3x more successful than those who only think about them!

📌 Why Written Goals Work in Tuition

✅ Clarity – You know exactly what you’re aiming for: e.g. “Increase GCSE English students by 20% this term.”
✅ Focus – Your energy goes into the right tasks.
✅ Motivation – Even on a tough day, the goal keeps you going.
✅ Measurement – You can check progress and course-correct if needed.

📝 Your Action Step This Week

Take 15 minutes. Grab a pen or open a blank document.

Ask yourself:

  1. What exactly do I want my tuition centre to achieve in the next 3 months?

  2. What are 1–2 key numbers I want to improve? (e.g. enrolments, student feedback scores, tutor hours)

  3. What would success look and feel like?

Then: Write it down. Put it somewhere visible. Revisit it every week.

This tiny action is the start of something powerful.

Here’s to stronger tuition centres—and stronger strides forward,
Graeme
